Cuba which has the children’s theater group “La Colmenita”, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2009, and other entities and celebrities also celebrated this world event.
Social changes promoted by the Cuban Revolution after the triumph 1959 –- made possible to eliminate the deplorable state previously suffered during infancy and it gave way to a new situation in which the children, the new generation of the future, are top priority. For that reason, infancy is defended in our country as the everyday hope.
The International Day of the Radio and Television in favor of infancy, has taken place every year since 1992, and has turned into a support platform to make children rights come true.
This is the biggest world campaign by the mass media in favor of infancy with the participation of more than 2,000 television and radio stations, and it offers a great opportunity for children to make up their views about the world, just the same way as they are living in their own communities.
The mass media play a crucial role, as part of society; since it can contribute to people paying more attention to the children’s views about the world.
In this regard, the Cuban Revolution has been faithful to its principles in its defense in favor of the infancy, comin from José Marti’s thoughts when he wrote: "The children are the
ones who know how to love; they mean hope for humanity."
