Danny Glover, Gerardo Hernández y Saúl Landau
The "International Committee to Free the Cuban Five" announces the premiere of a new documentary by Saul Landau entitled Will the real terrorist please, stand up”.
The documentary is about "Terrorism against Cuba and the Reasons of the Cuban Five” and will be screened on Saturday April 16 at La Brava cinema in San Francisco, California.
There will be a question and answer session in the presence of the well known filmmaker, to be followed by the performance of the musical group The Cuban Cowboys.
In a note released by the Committee it states that "in April 1961, the CIA sent a force of Cuban exiles to overthrow the Cubans. This resulted in the fiasco of the Bay of Pigs.
"Fifty years later, a new documentary shows that the US-sponsored violence against Cuba has continued for decades.
"The new film, with the participation of Danny Glover, the testimony of terrorists who are acting against Cuba, and Fidel Castro himself... it is inserting a fascinating archive of images and a special interview given the conditions in which they are."
This was recorded from the prison where one of the fives has been imprisoned for 12 years.
The text stresses that "these men are serving long sentences in U.S. prisons for trying to stop terrorism against their country."
Julia Sweig, David and Nelson Rockefeller, Senior Fellow for Latin American Studies and Director of Latin American Studies at the Council for Foreign Relations, said in the documentary: "Will the real terrorist, please stand up!" offers a tool for learning about U.S. policy toward Cuba and the history of the terrorism applied for decades. "
In his view, in it is shown "the context of the history of the Cuban Five, the agents penetrated the Miami exile groups to halt their plans of violence against the island and ended up in U.S. prisons."
Tracey Eaton, a former correspondent for The Dallas Morning News in Havana, said on his part that "It is a real Who's Who of the key figures in the more than half a century of a grudge game against Cuba."
