The National Fine Arts Museum is promoting for coming Saturday, April 9, a free access exhibition to an exhibition 140 prints, especially dedicated to the five Cuban political prisoners in the U.S.
The Brownstone Foundation, the International Committee to Free the Cuban Five and the National Fine Arts Museum, are sponsoring this collection from curator Gilbert Brownstone, who donated the 19th and 20th centuries paintings.
Born in New York, Brownstone, a fighter for the freedom of Cuban political prisoners, has dedicated the exhibition to Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González, according to a report from Prensa Latina news agency.
As a way to draw attention to the case, he said that, on the day, all the people who go to the show also will be informed of the case of Five, as they are known internationally in campaigns for their release.
This friend of Cuba and president of the Brownstone Foundation, confirmed here today that until they are released and return to their homeland, he will support the cause of the five Cubans imprisoned in the U.S. for more than 12 years for penetrating the gangs in South Florida who promote terrorism against the island.
The artist urges multiplying the initiatives in support with the five Cubans , who are victims of the injustice and the disgrace of the U.S legal system, thus he is sure that the last word will be given through the political battle.
Brownstone is also member of the group of Actors and Artists for the release of the Five that Danny Glover and Ed Asner co-direct, as well as other important personalities such as Susan Sarandon and Oliver Stone.
Brownstone was curator of the Modern Art Museum in Paris, the Paris Museum, and the Museum of Israel in Jerusalem and was the director for many years of the Picasso Museum in Antibes, in the southwest of France, he describes himself as a man from New York, who has lived in France, has a Swiss passport and a Cuban heart.
When he was asked about the magic link with Cuba he answered” Cuba and the Revolution have carried out everything for the culture of this Caribbean nation.
