More than 300 visits were reported by the internet forum held in the Isle of Youth, as part of the Cuban program for the release of the five Cubans imprisoned in the United States for nearly 13 years reported over 300 visits.
The balance of this new effort confirms that the struggle for the liberation of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González is not only this day, but it should be every day, said to Prensa Latina, Rafael Hojas, one of the moderators of the site hosted on the Cuban Radio Internet Portal (www.radiocubana.cu). Hojas highlighted the many messages of support sent in favor of the Cuban five, from more than 15 countries.
The Forum No more injustice, free them now, encouraged Internet users to come together under the slogan "You fight when the truth is told," an initiative inserted in the VII Common Front of Ideas, an event promoted by the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC ), in this special municipality.
The viewpoints expressed also questioned the irrationality of the U.S. government in holding the Five incarcerated, as they are internationally known.
Other viewpoints considered that, despite the increase in the number of committees of solidarity "on the planet are still missing voices, such as the U.S people, some of whose children could have been the victims of the attacks that were prevented by Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and Rene ".
The messages condemned the double standard of the White House in its alleged struggle against terrorism, because "there are confessed criminals who walk travel the streets of Miami like Luis Posada Carriles who masterminded the bombing of a Cubana airliner in 1976, which killed 73 innocent people on board.
Meanwhile, the discussions of the Common Front gave an idea of how the Cuban media must be in tune with current requirements regarding the clarification and dissemination of the updating process of the country's economic model.
Francisco Rodriguez, journalist with Trabajadores newspaper, said awareness must be first raised about these changes, and also the changes must take place in the press."
They also discussed the purposes of Washington´s cyber war, and in this context, the role of Cuban journalists.
Our task is to promote the proper use of new information technologies, and with it cyberpeace, said Ana Esther Zulueta, UPEC president in the Isle of Youth.
The Cuban Five were incarcerated in 1998 after they alerted Cuba of violent actions by groups settled in the state of Florida.
