The French association Cuba-Si will officially create a new committee on August 27, with the purpose of demanding the definitive return to Cuba of Rene Gonzalez, one of the five Cuban antiterrorist imprisoned in the United States, who finishes his sentence next October 7.

Charly P. Bohuana, national president of this Association announced that on this day a political and cultural gala is scheduled to support the Cuba-Si campaign for the immediate release of Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez.

The initiative, encouraged by Francis Casterant, an activist of the solidarity movement and journalist and writer Maxime Vivas, will incorporate another force for the international campaign that demands the release of these brave comrades, who have been serving unjust sentences in the U.S  prisons for almost 13 years.

The new committee, which will be constituted in Nistos, a town next to the city of Toulouse in the French Pyrenees region increases the European voices demanding the end of their unworthy sentences. Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero were arrested in 1998 in Miami and sentenced in a trial in that city in 2001 to gross sentences in prison that go from 15 years to 2 life imprisonments, plus 15 years.
