An activist for the release of five Cubans in the United States has announced a program of political and cultural activities for the coming September 12 in Cuba, when they complete 13 years since their arrest.
Graciela Ramirez, coordinator of the International Committee of Solidarity with the Five, as they are known in the worldwide campaign for their release, said that the activities will open with an exhibition of drawings by one of the prisoners.
The exhibition at the Havana Museum of Natural History includes 25 watercolors by Antonio Guerrero of Cuban endemic butterflies, disclosed Ramirez from the Julio Mella International Camp about 30 kilometers from the city.
The drawings will be accompanied by a poem written by Antonio Guerrero who was arrested on September 12, 1998 in Miami, with Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez and condemned to sentences that include two life sentences plus 15 years.
Guerrero used photographs by Liborio Noval, taken of examples in the Museum's collections.
Victims of terrorist acts promoted by the White House against Cuba will have a meeting to demand the immediate release of Rene, Antonio, Ramón, Fernando and Gerardo said Ramirez according a report by Cuban News Agency.
Likewise, the Cuban Institute of Friendship will organize an evening activity at the Astral movie theater where family members will raise their voices, as will other activists in different parts of the world.
