This October 7, Rene Gonzalez went out of prison where he has been held after a wrongful conviction 13 years ago. With 4 other comrades, victims of a rigged and obviously politicized trial, René was punished with a long prison sentence accused of being a Cuban security agent. His main crime was not to accept the indictment, which led to confinement.

René González was born in the United States, grew up in Cuba and has dual citizenship. His great “fault” was to penetrate the ranks of terrorist groups of Cuban origin based in Miami, who for years have continuously committed crimes and attacks against the top leaders of Cuba and acts in violation of national borders. Rene, along with Ramon, Antonio, Gerardo and Fernando was working to protect the lives of Cubans inside and outside Cuba, and also supervised the integrity of many people, including U.S. citizens, who may be victims of terrorism of State.

Criminal acts such as the attempt to assassinate Fidel Castro during a visit to Panama were prevented by people like the Cuban Five, as they are internationally known. If the plan would have been executed, it would have cost countless victims among Panamanian students and others gathered on a college campus to hear the leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Any informed person with a minimum level of access to the news knows the reasons why the Cuban Five risked their lives and are now paying long terms, including two life sentences in the case of Gerardo Hernandez.

Now we are struggling to reopen the case and revoke the unfair sentences. If it was not enough, Rene, after having served his sentence, has been given a new status of "supervised freedom" imposed by Judge Joan Lenard that forces him to stay for 3 years in the U.S. despite of his freedom this October 7.

This "supervised freedom" is a manipulation that threatens the life of René since he must remain in a hostile environment where murderers who walk the streets unpunished can put his life at risk.

Why Rene can not return immediately to Cuba? Why such cruelty? What are you afraid of who paid for the judge to impose Lenard such a provision, rather than totally unjust and absurd nonsense? Did Judge Lenard to ensure proper Cuban antiterrorist protection against a possible attempt to murder?

There are many questions whose only answer is the fear of the allegations Rene can do across the world, and committed work as a defender of his four comrades still in prison. René has a lot to tell the world about the rigged trial that took him to prison as well as the reasons that led them to penetrate terrorist groups based in southern Florida.

The world demanded that Rene was given the status of free man to go wherever he wants to. He should not remain under the arbitrary status of "supervised freedom" a strange and uncomfortable way to rename the word hostage.

Cuba, all progressive peoples of the world and the honest people within the United States are demanding an end to the new maneuver to violate the rights of a man who has already served an unfair sentence.

From October 7 Rene is a free man again and he needs to recover all their rights, including his return to Cuba.
