The valuable contribution of media workers beyond their professional activity was evidenced again in the presentation of three audiovisual materials about protection of the environment by radio journalist  Julian Hernandez, from the northern city of Puerto Padre, which impregnated new spirits into the Press House in Las Tunas.

The screening of the audiovisuals was sponsored by El Boqueron project, a space for the promotion of culture. Hernandez has been the main coordinator and executor of the project for nearly five years that aims at forming values and defending the environment.

The project has led an exhaustive work to protect the marine environment of harmful practices such as sand removal that causes damages on the coast lines or prey tracking that seriously damages the seabed.

With a growing support from the community and participation of the society, Julian has also promoted cultural traditions such as congas, celebrations in honor of the sea and other traditions deeply rooted in the inhabitants of a city that has been named the Cuban Blue Villa.

El Boqueron project may be still giving its first steps into the world, but the results of the work done is already calling the attention of renowned Cuban intellectuals such as Miguel Barnet, president of the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and other celebrities, activists and defenders of the environment beyond our borders.
