In a brief visit to the city of Camagüey, Elizabeth Palmeiro, the wife of Ramón Labañino, provides details on the current situation of the Cuban patriot unjustly held in U.S. penitentiaries.

"I guess Ramon is aware of all the news generated in the International Colloquium for the Five and against Terrorism, recently held in Holguin. He listens to Radio Rebelde, though sometimes with difficulty. But he can receive updated information from the Cuban station and the actions carried out worldwide to struggle for justice and truth. "

Elizabeth Palmeiro provides details on the current status of Ramon Labañino, imprisoned in a U.S. jail for more than 13 years:

"He is waiting for the U.S. Government to give us a visa to me and his daughters to visit him. We hope we can see him before the end of the year. So far, we have received no answer."

Ramon is also very concerned with the situation of René González, on supervised freedom in the United States. Regarding this aspect, she says:

"Like all of us, and all our friends and supporters in Cuba and around the world, he is concerned about the arbitrariness of the U.S. government to keep René there in the midst of his enemies, among people who are still embittered for the actions he made to prevent or hinder terrorist acts against Cuba.

"Ramon is also waiting for the course of the legal process of the Habeas Corpus he presented. The Attorney office must give a reply in any moment, and in consequence, his lawyers may present a reply.

"It is very likely that the U.S. Attorney denies it, says Elizabeth Palmeiro, as it did in the cases of Gerardo Hernandez and Antonio Guerrero. However; it does not prevent that we follow the legal course. We will do whatever it takes in the legal course, always confident and hopeful that the outcome of the case of our family is in the hands of international solidarity. "

And the solidarity actions are growing, as  Elizabeth Palmeiro recognized in Camagüey:
"We are filled with energy when we participate in events like the International Colloquium. When we visit the venues of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in the provinces, we receive countless displays of affection, not only from the Cuban people, but also from friends of the world that come together around the ICAP. "

Still waiting for a response from the U.S. Attorney’s Office to the request of Habeas Corpus, Ramón Labañino knows that "the family is struggling- Elizabeth says- and they are doing the same from their prison cells. They are always transmitting high energy, lots of love to their families, so we are not concerned. And above all, they are very hopeful that justice will be soon. "
