Paraguayan singer-songwriter Ricardo Flecha dedicated to The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US prisons the first night of the Latin American, Caribbean All the People's Singing Festival running in this capital.

"We not only think about those who showed us the way; I would like to say that tonight our heart has also sung for The Five heroes held in the United States since 1998," said Flecha in an interview with Prensa Latina. He recalled the time he spoke with Antonio Guerero by phone from the house of Cuban singer/songwriter Vicente Feliu in Havana, when "I felt really excited."

I think that our singing flew over the ocean and reached Tony and his compatriots (Rene Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino  and Gerardo Hernandez), who are serving harsh sentences for warning their country of terrorist plans organized and financed by Florida-based counterrevolutionaries.

Flecha did not want to lose the chance to send greetings to the Cuban people, telling them that "we are on your side for whatever you may need, anywhere, anytime," he said.

"I always said that from year 1959 there was only one commander, that is Fidel Castro, and only one people, that is Cuba," he recalled.

"Today that example has been multiplied and fortunately we have progressive governments in Latin America like those of Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) and Evo Morales (Bolivia)," he added.

Known in Paraguay by his rescue of traditional music, mainly country music, Flecha thanked all those who came to Paraguay to support this festival as a process of singing and reflection.
