Panamanian experts from various law areas will discuss, on May 28, aspects of the case of five Cubans imprisoned in the U.S., organizers said.
On behalf of the promoters of the initiative, Javier Medina told Prensa Latina that the meeting will be held in the Faculty of Law at the University of Panama.
This action, he added, is part of efforts to ensure that the details of the unfair process reach all Panamanians, to coordinate positions for the release of Five Cuban patriots.
Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and René González are imprisoned in the United States for their efforts to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba by extremist groups located in the United States.
The event, Medina said, will allow a thorough examination from the legal and justice point of view of this case, besides listening to the position of international public opinion.
At the end of 2009 the National Lawyers Association hosted the first meeting of this kind under the theme "Legality and Justice: The Case of The Five."
On that occasion, the forum provided an opportunity to reflect on the issue with professionals and academicians linked to law and international relations.
The experts discussed various aspects related to the proceedings brought against the five Cubans, including violations of the U.S. constitution, and human and family rights.
