A group of young Peruvians staged a walk to San Cristobal hill; a high point situated close to the Rimac River and bore witness to the confrontations of between the Spanish and the indigenous population in the 16th century, demanding the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States.
Members of the Youth Committee of Solidarity with the Five climbed, after a brave journey of one hour, to the top of the elevation, where a cross can be seen from far away.
The walkers unfurled the flag of the Peruvian Committee of Solidarity with the Five and performed a tribute to René, Fernando, Ramón, Gerardo and Antonio.
The activity was attended by president of the national committee, Gustavo Espinoza, who emphasized the importance of the youth initiative, to coincide with the XL Assembly of the Organization of American States (OEA) in Lima.
According to Espinoza, the activity was a sample of the effort and will of the Peruvian solidarity with the Five and its decision to hear the voice of dignity and justice of a legitimate cause of concern to humanity.
The Youth Committee President, Cynthia Quispe, said the accession of the young people to fight for freedom of the Five Heroes, as Cuba recognized them, and their indomitable will to persevere in it.
The walkers were accompanied by a medical team led by orthopedist and escorted by the police, who did not interfere with the act.
