Qornet el-Sawda, the highest mountain of the Middle East

Members of the Lebanese Committee for Solidarity for the Release of the Five has decided to climb to the highest mountain of the Middle East, from July 9 to July 11, 2010, to bring their claim for freedom of the Five Brothers heroes,: GERARDO, RAMON, ANTONIO, FERNANDO and RENE, who are unjustly imprisoned in the United States since 1998 for defending Cuba from terrorist acts committed from Miami.

The activity will start, on Friday, July 9 in an ecological and cultural camping in a location east of the "Qornet el-Sawda" (3093 m. above sea level), the highest peak not only in Lebanon and the Middle East, but throughout Western Asia.

The camping is situated in the center of the largest forest in the region called the forest "lazzab" (because of the name of the tree that abounds in the area of Lebanon), and where the world's oldest trees in an environment virgin covered with vegetation and exotic plants. The forest is located at the height of 1900 m above sea level.

From Lazzab forest, you can see the northern Bekaa Valley with the view to reach some villages Syrian border with Lebanon, also looks to "Ouyoun Ourgosh" environmentally recognized place where calm is only comparable with desired peace for our peoples, which our five heroes are offering their best years of youth.

During the camping will be held the fire of friendship between the peoples of Lebanon and Cuba, as part of the day's activities on July 26 also will exhibit materials about the cause of the Cuban Five and the history of struggle of the people Cuba, as well as explore this region so far inside Lebanon to meet its people and learn about their lifestyles and traditions.

On Saturday, July 10, a group of participants in the camping, along with members of the Pro-Five, scaled for several hours, in an area that is still a virgin land in the country, a magnificent beauty, reaching the highest summit of the Middle East, where placed, Lebanese and Cuban flags, photos of the Cuban Five and two banners which demanding to the President OBAMA the immediate release of these Cuban fighters.

The purpose of this act of solidarity is to call the worldwide attention and report the terrible injustice that has lasted almost 12 years with the closure of five paradigmatic men, whose case is the most blatant and excessive, which supports the deepest human feeling, is to our unforgettable Gerardo Hernandez.
