The solidarity with the five Cuban antiterrorists unfairly imprisoned in the United States became evident once more in Argentina and New Zealand.
In the South American nation, the National Alternative Media Network called U.S. President Barack Obama to immediately withdraw the false charges against Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González.
The organization added that, in his capacity as U.S. President, Obama has the power to put an end to this absurd punishment, the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s Web site reports.
The document also demands the granting of entry visas to Adriana Pérez and Olga Salanueva, who have not been able to visit their husbands, Gerardo and Rene, respectively, since they were arrested in 1998.
On the other hand, in New Zealand, Cuba's ambassador to that country, José Luis Robaina, urged to redouble international solidarity with The Five, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
In statements to the program Oye Latino aired by Access Radio, a radio station from New Zealand, the diplomat said that this support will force U.S. authorities to release these patriots from prison.
Robaina described as a legal monstrosity the process and the excessive sentences these men were given, adding that such sentences are a brutal attempt to condemn the Cuban people for having chosen the path of sovereignty and self-determination half a century ago.
