Members of the European Coordinating Committee for the Freeing of The Five called to intensify actions in the campaign for the release of five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned in the United States for over a decade now.
Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández and René González are serving harsh sentences for reporting on plans of violent actions against Cuba conceived by terrorist groups in U.S. territory.
According to a communiqué released by the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, the group of solidarity urged the organizations devoted to this noble effort to carry out activities particularly on September 12 to commemorate the 12th anniversary of their unjust imprisonment.
The main objective –underlines the text- is to call the attention of the mass media in a creative way and convene as many artists and famous personalities as possible.
In this campaign, it is also necessary to strengthen this exchange of information and pressure U.S. President Barack Obama with the systematic sending of letters and postcards, points out the document.
In October, we will have the presence of some relatives of the Five in Europe, and a month later we will try to guarantee a large participation of delegates from the Old Continent in a symposium scheduled for the eastern Cuban province of Holguin and in another one in the capital city on media terrorism.
