Dar es Salaam, September 20th 2010
Mr. Barack Obama
The President of United States of America
Your Excellency,
Please, allow me to address myself to you, in your capacity of President of the United States of America, in order to request from you a favor, you certainly can concede.
Mr. President, Sir, I am the daughter of one African leader, who dedicated his entire life to the struggle for the emancipation and freedom no only for the Tanzanians, but for all citizens of the African continent as a whole. I am talking about Julius Kambarage Nyerere, my father.
My name is Rosemary Nyerere, and I am the President of the Association of Parents of the Tanzanian Students in Cuba. Today I am writing this letter to you to ask you, please, to use the power inherent to your high stature as national and world leader.
My petition Mr. President is, please, use your legal powers to release the five Cuban citizens, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, René González and Fernando González, who are unjustly incarcerated in your country, for the sole crime of trying to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba, actions which would also harm the people of your country, the United States of America.
I ask this petition to you, not only in your capacity of president of the most powerful country in the world, but also in your condition of a peace lover person and in the name of God, your guide and Savior.
Mr. President, Sir, please show the world that you can act as the good human being I certainly know you are, as a descendant from our beloved continent.
God bless you.
I hope to here from you,
Rosemary Nyerere
