Outstanding Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, famous, among other aspects, for the music of anthological films like Zorba, the Greek (1964), Serpico (1973) and State of Siege (1972), declared himself to be in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution while condemning the criminal blockade of the United States against Cuba and the Common Position of the European Union.

Theodorakis, who is also the president of the Greek Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five, also expressed his support for the five Cubans illegally imprisoned in the United States, as well as his solidarity.

Like other Greek artists and intellectuals, Theodorakis joined the call made by the Cuban-Greek Association of Friendship and Solidarity.
