Five Cuban Heroes
Ambassadors from 25 countries sent a letter to the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, requesting President Obama to intercede on behalf of Olga Salanueva and Adriana Perez, to allow them to visit their husbands, René Gonzalez y Gerardo Hernandez, two of the five antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the U. S. jails since1998.
The letter expresses that depriving by their wives of visiting them in jail is an extreme and unusual punishment, reported Cubadebate based on a news report by ANSA agency.
Gerardo Hernandez is serving two life sentences and Rene Gonzalez is serving a 15 years sentence in different prisons; they have been in jail for more than 12 years.
The letter was delivered by ambassadors from member countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), established in 2004, such us: Nicaragua, Venezuela, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the Bolivia represented by its charge d'affaires. Other nations that also supported the document include: Congo, Libya, Ukraine, South Africa, Paraguay, Cyprus, Iran and El Salvador, among others.
Other Cuban antiterrorist imprisoned since September 12th, 1998 are Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and Ramón Labañino.
