The Cuban Five

”I'll be completely happy when I have the opportunity to celebrate my birthday with my family and the Cuban Five,” said Elián González, at the end of the habitual demonstrations for the release of the Cuban Five antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States since 1998.

Elian said that Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino , Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez were sent to prison when the people of Cuba was fighting to get him back to the island, and they were not able to participate in that claim.  Now, Elian proudly raises his voice for their freedom and for truth to emerge.

In a brief visit to the city of Camagüey, Elizabeth Palmeiro, the wife of Ramón Labañino, provides details on the current situation of the Cuban patriot unjustly held in U.S. penitentiaries.

"I guess Ramon is aware of all the news generated in the International Colloquium for the Five and against Terrorism, recently held in Holguin. He listens to Radio Rebelde, though sometimes with difficulty. But he can receive updated information from the Cuban station and the actions carried out worldwide to struggle for justice and truth. "

los_cincoThe United Kingdom Solidarity Movement with the Cuban five antiterrorists condemned to serve long sentences in the United States will carry out several actions favoring their cause within the next months, announced activist Geoffrey Bottoms.

According to the Catholic priest and coordinator of the movement visiting Cuba, an evening will take place on December 1 in front of Washington´s embassy in London with the participation of relatives of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.

{dropcap}P{/dropcap}resident of Angola's Parliament Antonio Paulo Kassoma addressed relatives of the Cuban Five in Havana today to assure them of his country's unconditional support for the just cause defended by these activists, imprisoned in the United States for monitoring the activities of terrorist groups.

"They were merely fulfilling their duty of protecting Cuba. That is why we have come here today, in show of our solidarity towards their cause, as we have always done in our country," Kassoma stated during the gathering held at the Cuban International Friendship Institute (ICAP).
