As a preamble to the tribute, the singer was presented with the award by coordinator Carlos Rafael Martínez Miranda, member of the Executive Secretariat of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the largest mass organization in the country.
The award recognizes the extensive community work developed by the singer, along with other musicians, writers and artists in the neighborhoods of the capital, and in prisons across the country, by contributing to the spiritual growth of the community.
Silvio dedicated the award to all those people whose work backstage is essential in every concert he plays. “Many people we don’t see have been working for days to make this happen. To those people, I dedicate this award with all my heart. "
Silvio sang to the audience his songs, despite the persistent drizzle. He started with El Papalote. At each pause the audience asked their favorite songs and sang along classics songs of his repertoire like Oleo de mujer con sombrero, Cancion del elegido, Cita con angeles, La era, Pioneros, El enanito, El Mayor, El necio, Cuenta, Ojala, El escaramujo and Virgen de Occidente.
At the end of the concert, Silvio came down the stage to show his gratitude as he always does, as if remembering something he has repeatedly said: "We feel the gratitude of the neighborhoods for taking our work to the doors of their houses and, in return, I think they feel our gratitude for receiving us the way they do.
