Irma Shelton

Irma Shelton, a journalist and announcer, studied primary and high school at the 26 de Julio School Center, located in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba. In 1976, she entered at the Warner Moro Perez Languages School, where she joined the polyphonic choir at school and attended some Provincial and National Festivals promoted by Federation of Cuban High School Students (FEEM) and Federation of University Students (FEU). In 1980, she graduated from University, as an English teacher, where she turned into the best student with the first student record and was placed at Antonio Maceo vocational Pre-college to carry out corresponding practices after University. She became sick with allergy, so she temporarily had to stop her studies.

Tanya Granados: The First Female Voice of Radio Reloj

Tanya Granados whose real name is Miriam Alfonso was the first female voice of Radio Reloj. Her debut as announcer was exactly 22 years after this radio station went on the air in 1947. Tanya is the daughter of prominent journalist and professor Rogelio Alfonso Granados. She spent her childhood among books and news. Her family was frequent listener of Radio Reloj and CMBF Radio Musical Nacional, hence her love for the most exclusive music. At her grandmother’s house she sometimes listened to other radio stations that broadcast radio serials. She has never thought in the possibility of working in the radio and less as an announcer. At that moment being an actress was her greatest goal in life.

Xiomara Fernandez is Artist of Merit of the Cuban Radio and Television; she is also a renowned actress and announcer. She began her artistic career in 1963 with the Professional Theater Group in Matanzas, known at that time Gerard Phillips.

In her performances she was accompanied by renowed artists like Maria de los Angeles Santana, Enrique Santiesteban, Germana Pinelli, Carlos Monteczuma, Juan Carlos Romero, Agustin Campos, Mario Limonta  and others…

People remebered Miriram when she performed Remigia, the spoiled mayoress in San Nicolas del Peladero transmitted by CMQ Canal 6 at the beginings of the 60’s, her performace combined sensitivity with intelligence.

Rosalia Arnaez was born in 1954, she is a bachelor in Journalism at the Havana University. She always loves music and made a course of music and dramatic arts. Afterwards, she started working as an actress in the artistic group of the Armed Revolutionary Forces.

During 25 years she worked as announcer and presenter of the Cuban Television programs such as the National Television News, the program Estilos and has also been the presenter of shows and artistic galas transmitted by the Cuban Television as well as May 1st parades and mass meetings. Arnaez is considered one of the best Cuban presenters and announcers.
