The Cuban media before 1959 responded to the oligarchy. They did not report about social differences, malnutrition and unemployment, most prevelent in rural and suburban areas.
The news emphasized the "opportunities" the prevailing system appeared to provide for the poor, to which the rich had full access. Not a line was wrtiten to reflect what harmed society, or about the robberies, corruption committed by the natives and as well as foreigners.

The shooting of the TV series “El regreso de David” finished in the early eighties and Sergio Corrieri, who played the main character of the story, came to rest in Camaguey province for some days.
In that occasion I had the opportunity to meet an artist whom I admired since his performance in the classic “Memorias del Subdesarrollo” by the outstanding movie maker Tomas Gutierrez Alea or so-called Titon.

In the summer of 1978, was held in Cuba for the first time the Adolfo Guzman Cuban Music Competition. This competition becomes the best way to pay tribute to this oustanding musician who died on July 30, 1976, to stay alive in our memory as an example of what should be “An artist of the people”.

During my professional career for over forty-years, I have had the great honor to meet by reference, but mainly in person, a lot of men and women of great talent who work in the radio in various specialties, and they have done their work in the media very successfully. However on this occasion, I’d like to write about a figure, who since he was a child, has felt a great attraction to the world of the sound; a child that used to dream of those voices of artists he used to listen on the radio. A little boy who once entered a radio station called Cuban Radio Havana to attend a live broadcast - at the age of four - and was so fascinated that he decided to work in the radio, and has stayed there for 62 years. His name is Ivan Perez Ramirez.
