Irma Shelton, a journalist and announcer, studied primary and high school at the 26 de Julio School Center, located in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba. In 1976, she entered at the Warner Moro Perez Languages School, where she joined the polyphonic choir at school and attended some Provincial and National Festivals promoted by Federation of Cuban High School Students (FEEM) and Federation of University Students (FEU).
