Members of the European Coordinating Committee for the Freeing of The Five called to intensify actions in the campaign for the release of five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned in the United States for over a decade now.

Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández and René González are serving harsh sentences for reporting on plans of violent actions against Cuba conceived by terrorist groups in U.S. territory.

Irma Shelton, a journalist and announcer, studied primary and high school at the 26 de Julio School Center, located in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba. In 1976, she entered at the Warner Moro Perez Languages School, where she joined the polyphonic choir at school and attended some Provincial and National Festivals promoted by Federation of Cuban High School Students (FEEM) and Federation of University Students (FEU). In 1980, she graduated from University, as an English teacher, where she turned into the best student with the first student record and was placed at Antonio Maceo vocational Pre-college to carry out corresponding practices after University.
