The National Performing Arts Council will premiere the show Recordando una Rosa (Remembering Rose) to celebrate the 73 years of career of vedette Rosita Fornes, considered as Cuba´s most versatile contemporary artist.
According to organizers, the event will be held on October 15-16 at America Theater, in Havana, one of the most important institutions of Cuban musical show.

Singer and songwriter Silvio Rodríguez was awarded the Premio del Barrio Award the night he performed his 18th concert in communities with complex social situations. The award was delivered by the member of the Executive Secretariat of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) presented the singer the award that recognizes his "community work in the interest of society”

Rumba dancers from all over the world are attending the Timbalaye Cuban International Rumba Festival 2011, that started on September 1 in Havana, and is being attended by musicians and researchers from Mexico, Italy, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Uruguay and Cuba.
The program includes dance and percussion workshops, shows, sales of books, presentation of magazines, popular fiestas in the streets and the First Theoretic Meeting La Rumba: cultura e identidad, on the work and thinking of anthropologist and second discoverer of Cuba, Fernando Ortiz.
