Cuba troubadour Silvio Rodríguez will sing next October 14 at the Antonio Maceo Revolution Square, 20 years after his performance of the song “El Necio” during the 4th Congress con the Cuban Communist Party.
Vicente González, provincial government´s vice president in Santiago de Cuba informed that to celebrate the Revolution Square´s 20 anniversary there will be a concert by the Holguin and the Oriente Symphonic Orchestras next October 13 at the area before the Titán de Bronce monument.
He also announced the performance by the very popular Los Van van orchestra and a celebration program including a colloquium with the participation of Cuban artist Alberto Lescay, main creator of the Square´s sculpturing group together with other members of the creating team.
Also celebrating the Revolution Square´s 20th anniversary there will be a children drawing competition, La Plaza de la Revolución de mi ciudad ( My city´s revolution Square) and there will be inaugurated the exhibit La ciudad, el héroe, la plaza, (The city, the hero and the square) which will present different stages during the construction of such significant hereditary place.
The Revolution Square, the Heredia Theatre, the Santiago Hotel and some other buildings were part of the great investment project that took place in the city towards the celebration of the most important Communist Party event in 1991 which took place at the coliseum named after the first national poet.
During the 4th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, Fidel asked Sivio Rodriguez to perform El Necio, a song which has became the Cuban revolutionaries hymn in difficult times.
