My dear comrades:

I asked that we meet early, before the heat of our sun becomes too intense.

This stairway, to which I never imagined I would be returning, keeps some indelible memories of the years when I began to become aware of our era and our duty.  One can acquire knowledge and awareness throughout one’s lifetime but never in any other stage of one’s existence will a person again have the purity and selflessness with which, being young, one faces up to life.  At that age, I discovered my true destiny.

Thus it is inevitable that, at these moments, I am accompanied by the memory of so many comrades whom I knew exactly 65 years ago.  It was during the first week of September that I entered this University, the only one in the country.  It is best that I don’t even try to ask for each one of them, and I just hold on to the memory of when they were all young and full of enthusiasm and, as a rule, selfless and pure.

Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro addressed hundreds of university students Friday morning on different aspects related to the danger posed on humanity by the possible outbreak of a nuclear war.

Wearing his traditional olive green uniform, Fidel arrived at the historic stairs of the University of Havana to meet hundreds of university students, other children from nearby schools, and people in general, who packed at the place since very early hours to listen to what their historic leader had to
tell them.

The current world power threatens the survival of our planet, Fidel said

“We need to live in peace and safe in a planet less and less habitable, “the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro said during his speech addressed hundreds of Cuban University students gathered at the historic stairs of the University of Havana, where he went to prevent youth and the world in general on the danger the human race is facing.

Dressed in his traditional olive green uniform, the Commander in chief Fidel Castro recalled those University students of his time, who embraced their dreams of liberty and justice and were the precursors of the current youth’s political thoughts.

Upon his arrival at the steps of the University of Havana, the university students received Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro with an ovation.

The meeting of the Commander in Chief with the university students took place when we’re within days of the beginning of the new school year, and in the face of the danger of a new war in the Middle East with unforeseeable consequences for the world.

Just a few days before beginning the school year 2010-2011 and because of the danger of a nuclear war with incalculable consequences in the Middle East, the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro will address the University Students.  A ceremony will take place on September 3, at 7:30 a.m. local time at the University of Havana’s staircase.

This event will be broadcast live on Television through Cubavision and Cubavision Internacional channels as well as Radio Rebelde and Radio Habana Cuba stations, and then through the Round Table program on Cuban Television at 6:30 p.m. local time.
