The RadioCuba Company has done research along with other scientific institutions to reduce the vulnerability in the systems of transmission of radio electronic signals, in order to maintain communications throughout the country, even in severe weather conditions.
As published on the Radio Reloj Cuban web site, new pylons have been installed throughout Cuba. They are able to withstand winds of over 200 kilometers per hour, corresponding to hurricanes Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Under the motto "The University for a sustainable development", the Eighth International Congress on Higher Education will take place in Havana. Over 3,000 delegates from 60 countries- 800 of them Cuban- will attend the meeting.
This motto reasserts the responsibility higher education has to society and its time, while it fosters a space for reflection and discussion with the aim of assessing the contribution of the university towards sustainable development.

Presidents of Bolivia and Ecuador will attend the Alba (Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas) Summit on 5 February in Caracas, announced Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, who called the regional meeting.
"Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa and Bolivian President Evo Morales have confirmed their attendance at the meeting," said Chavez during his Sunday program "Alo Presidente" broadcast by VTV television state channel

First Conference of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) wound up two sessions in Havana focused on strengthening the work of the organization and its role related to the updating of the economic model in Cuba. It also approved the report of four commissions created to assess the running and methods of Communist Party, its political and ideological work, among other issues.
Over 800 participants reasserted their commitment to carry out the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy, approved at the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party in April, 2011. They were also in favor of strengthening the national unity of the Party and the Revolution and the links with the masses.

 Raul Castro at the closing of the First Conference of the Communist Party of Cuba Havana, Cuba, Jan 30.- Army General Raul Castro ratified on Sunday that Cuba will never renounce having a single Party, as wanted by imperialism, since doing so will lead to the defeat of the Revolution and would sacrifice the unity of the people.
While closing at Havana's Convention Center the First National Conference of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), he highlighted the democratic nature of the preparatory process, with the participation of members of the PCC and of the Young Communists League (UJC) in the debates on the meeting's draft document.

The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (CC-PCC), Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, urged the members of this political organization to work with more responsibility and looking to the future.
During the inauguration of the First Conference of the PCC at Havana's Convention Center on Saturday, Machado Venture referred to the need to get rid of obsolete conceptions in order to strengthen the work of the Communist Party.
