
Cuban Health School
Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution was granted with the decoration of the 80 anniversary of the Cuban Health School.
According a note published in Granma newspaper the revolutionary leader was decorated due to his exceptional contributions to the development of Cuban society as well as foster and consolidate the health system in national and international scope.
The high- level distinction was received by Public Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer on behalf of Fidel and PhD in Sciences Pastor Catetll-Florit, director of the Cuban Health School, in the closure of the institution’s Scientific Conference.
“If there is something to say on the development of Public Health is that it has been the result of Fidel’s conceptions, principles and ideas”, Balaguer stated.
The decoration was also granted to Ernesto Che Guevara, the first Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, the Minister of the sector and Joseph M. Miyar Barruecos, head of Science Technology and Environment. Likewise it was granted to a group of professionals for its active participation in the Cuban health system development.
Cuban Health School was founded in 1927 with the name of National Institute Carlos J. Finlay, as leading center for the National Health School important academic and scientific-technical achievements.
It has 506 thousand graduates of masters; has trained 61 PhD in Health Sciences and 120 are training process.
