The National Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women granted, on Saturday in Havana, the 50th Anniversary of the FMC Commemorative Seal to the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly held in US prisons.
Santana said this recognition would be given to the Five´s families so as " when they are back in Cuba, they could have it as evidence of our admiration, respect and tenderness toward them.
On behalf of those fighters against terrorism, the decoration was received by Magali Llort and Mirta Rodriguez, Fernando González´s and Antonio Guerrero´s mothers , Elizabeth Palmeiro and Lisbet Labañino, Ramón Labañino´s wife and daughter, and Isabel Hernandez, Gerardo Hernández´s sister .
Fernando, Antonio, Gerardo, Ramon, and René, internationally known as the Five, have been unjustly held in US prisons for infiltrating ultra-right wing organizations in Florida which had been plotting terrorists acts against the island.
The seal, sponsored by the FMC 2010 Resolution Number Seven, was also granted to members of the first group joining this organization in 1960, who have been collaborating with this organization and its president Vilma Espín.
Along with the Young Communist League and other mass organizations, several personalities were also awarded this recognition as "they had supported the FMC for decades."
A group of outstanding organizations were also presented with this seal such as the Ministry of the Interior, Armed Revolutionary Forces, Public Health, Education, Supreme Court, among others.
Leading this ceremony were Yadira García Vera and Concepción Campa Huergo, members of the Cuban Communist Party Politic Bureau and FMC secretary Yolanda Ferrer Gómez.
