Jorge Valero, permanent representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
On behalf of the Bolivarian Revolution Valero expressed his support for the statements made by the Group of 77 plus China, which described as acceptable the Cuban resolution presented by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla on the Necessity to put an end to the economic, political and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba, for constituting an interference in the internal affairs of the states.
In the international forum, the Bolivarian diplomat asked if the U.S. government was going to continue disregarding the criteria of the UN General Assembly, and urged its current government to pay attention to the call and wishes of all the peoples of the world making up the UN.
At the plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly, the Venezuelan diplomat warned about the implementation of extraterritorial laws, like the Helms Burton and the Torricelli laws, which show the unfair relations of power existing in the world, and that Cuba, in spite of the U.S blockade, exports its solidarity and love and supports different nations in their struggle to achieve their dreams of social justice.
Valero described as heroism the attitude of the Cuban people in its struggle to preserve its dignity and sovereignty, highlighting that the blockade against Cuba has an impact on everyday life, on its women, young people and children, reflected, for example, on the difficulties of the population to gain access to construction materials to repair their homes, and the hardships of the basic industry in its efforts to develop alternative sources of employment.
