Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla arrived to Quito, Ecuador for an official visit. During his stay, the minister will meet President Rafael Correa, and other top government officials, reported Prensa Latina News Agency.
The Cuban delegation was welcome by Deputy Foreign Minister Kintto Lucas and Cuban ambassador to Ecuador, Jorge Rodríguez.
Official activities are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday including the Bilateral Second Meeting of Political Consultation Mechanism, according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in January, 2009.
The agenda also includes a meeting with Vice President Lenin Moreno to adress progress and projection of the “Manuela Espejo” Solidarity Mission on disabled persons´ resgistry; a task being carried out with Cuba’s collaboration.
AGAINST BLOCKADE
Ricardo Patiño, Ecuador's Foreign Affairs Minister, Trade and Integration Minister, denounced the US blockade imposed upon by several consecutive administrations to the Cuban people who devote itself to development, as an attempt of keeping its poverty by force.
"The U.S. blockade upon Cuba is not only absurd, but criminal; it is an insult to humanity and a disdain to the repeated demands by International Community,” asserted the Ecuadorian Minister on an interview to Prensa Latina.
Another issue, pointed out Patiño, refers to US double standard of its international policy, since five Cubans are still in U.S. prisons just for fighting terrorism.
