Susan Scheegans, an expert from the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) highlighted in a very special way the human potencial development in Cuba.
As a main editor, Scheegans offered details regarding the Unesco Cuban Chapter 2010 Report on the current status of science worldwide, to Cuban and foreign personalities who gathered at the San Geronimo University of Havana.
The specialist described Cuban human development as instructive and commendable and stressed that the resulting indicators deserve a study of special interest.
Scheegans brought out stats related to higher education registration and pointed out hat the number of students has doubled , particularly in medicine, and indicated that 53, 5 % of science and technology professionals are women.
She said that the development and manufacture of medications and biotechnological products are the most successful examples of scientific achievements in Cuba for its national socioeconomic development and its aid delivered to other nations.
