National History Award from the National Union of Cuba’s Historians (UNHIC), for 2010, was granted to Dr. Pedro Pablo Rodriguez Lopez, a researcher from the Marti Studies Center, who has devoted part of his work to study José Marti’s legacy.

Dr. Manuel Fernandez Carcassés, a member of the UNHIC Secretariat and president of the jury, pointed out that Pedro Pablo stands out for his lifetime work as a historian, journalist, essayist and academician among more than 5,000 members of that organization.

The prizewinning historian is currently in charge of the critical edition of the Complete Works by Jose Marti, the author of other books like “Antologia del Pensamiento Revolucionario Cubano (Anthology of Cuban revolutionary thought), 1970; “La primera invasion” (The first invasion), 1987; “El periodismo como mision” (The journalism as a mission), 2003 – a compilation of studies on José Martí’s journalism.
