At a time in which the solidarity with the Cuban Five is increasing all over the world and represents a stoppable flood even in Miami, moved by the respect for the Cuban Revolution and the denunciation  on the terrorism, several terrorists groups in Miami insist on distorting the Five’s heroic role in the defense on their nation.

The intolerance shown by U.S organizations linked to terrorism and the media war regarding to the initiative in favor of the cause of the Five, are the most reliable expression that the Cuban patriots should never have been judged in a city in which the demented hate of the Revolution and false intolerance prevails.

On February, 1st a small group of women dressed in black tried to denigrate the image of the Five, particularly Gerardo’s, lying about supposed declarations made by him about his case. Today the truth is known: The New Herald lied, as it usually does, in all concerning this manipulated process. Gerardo never recognized that the Hermanos al Rescate’s pilots were attacked over international waters. This rumor was prepared to confuse, and was denied by Saul Landau and Danny Glover, who recently visited him and announced the truth of our comrade, unjustly imprisoned in the United States, the same happened with Ramon, Antonio, Fernando and Rene.

Some days before, on January 27, another intolerant mafia group made a scene in front of the offices The New Herald and The Miami Herald, as a consequence of a paid announcement by the Alianza Martiana, in favor of the release of The Five. The meeting was attended by several members of the Association of Military Units to Assist Production (UMAP), Vigilia Mambisa and the Cuban Patriotic Board.

As was expected, the libel of the mafia concerned the appearance of the announcement, arguing negligence in the legal supervision procedure and the content content of it. The president and editor of the Miami Herald Company himself, David Landsberg apologized for the mistake: “we have had an investigation and we have determined that this notice would not has been accepted having followed the normal process of revision,(…).

“It was a provocative and insulting act for this community, which has lost its heroes in the shooting down of the Hermanos al Rescate’s planes.” Of course, there is no need to say anything.

Another executive of El Nuevo Herald, Manny Garcia justified himself before the protest of those who dominate and spread the distorted perception of the Cuban reality, and hurriedly stated: “We have met with the members of the community today to hear their complaints and we have explained that this announcement is not up to our standards”(…)”The irony in this case is that our journalists did news coverage about the Cuban issue, until the point that Cuban government denied to give the journalist visa to go to cover the economic and political problems at the moment.

Another precedent happened two days ago when a billboard was placed with the same announcement in a place neighboring Miami City Casino, located on the intersection of 37th Avenue and 4th Street of North West, in Miami. The members of Vigilia Mambisa created a racket led by the irrational Miguel Saavedra.

All this intense rejoicing proved the existence of a damaging and stuffy environment, which contributed to the murky trial prepared in Miami against the Five when they received legally unjustifiable sentences. They were never seen, nor could they ever be seen, as what they really were, the defenders of their nation against the terrorist that wander around and boast with total impunity in Florida.  In spite of the ruckus, the submission of the mass media to Cuban mafia and the U.S extreme right, in spite of the effort to silence the truth, the struggle for the total release of the Five increases every day. It is a spate in favor of justice and the truth.
