The book “Fidel por el Mundo” (Fidel around the world), a book by journalist Luis Baez that compiles testimonies of visits carried out by the Commander in Chief to over 50 countries- was launched last Sunday at the 20th International Book Fair, underway at “Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña” located in the Cuban capital.

Anecdotes, expression of gratitude to Fidel and examples of faith towards Cuba are included in the book, in which the author recreates contacts made by the leader of the Revolution with those ordinary people of countries.



The essayist Horacio González, director of the National Library of Argentina, was invited to attend the “Encuentro” (Encounter) section. He referred to his closeness to Cuba, the importance re-reading history anytime, and the plans drawn up by libraries according to the new technologies.

National Publication and Design Awards 2010 were granted to Silvia Garriga and Rolando Estévez, respectively, on the third day of the International Book Fair.

Promoting ideals of emancipation as well as the best books from Latin America and the Caribbean, is the main goal of ALBA Bicentennial Collection, of which the first 32 books were presented on Sunday at the Fair.

Books will be presented at the 20th International Book Fair in the genres: essay, testimony, narration and poetry, will be part of a catalog that will be translated into several languages and it will also take into account those who have just learned to read and write from Latin America and the Caribbean continent.

With the attendance of the Minister of Culture of Angola, Rosa Cruz e Silva, the books: “Antologia de cuentos angolanos” (Anthology of Angolan stories) and “Jaime Bunda, agente secreto” (Jaime Bunda, Secret Agent), by the famous author Pepetela were presented on Sunday.

Abel Prieto, Minister of Culture in Cuba, said this be will like a new impulse for the the Angolan literature publication, which will contribute to provide the Cuban readers a wider vision of the universal culture.
