The whole world knows the saying that reads that “a lie repeated several times over would soon acquire the legitimacy of truth” and even it can gain followers that would defend it consistently.
The fact is that as soon as I listened that the new chapter of the TV series Las Razones de Cuba would deal the building up of those so-called “opinion leaders”, I immediately remembered the book The Acrobat by German writer Harry Thürk (1927 – 2005) in which he narrates how the U.S. intelligence agencies turned a lackluster Soviet writer into a Nobel Prize laureate in Literature to internationally discredit the then Soviet Union.
The same thing is happening in the 21st century with Cuba, but now the new technologies, that could be used to inform citizens objectively, many times are used to praise slander as these pitiyanquis do.
There are many examples that I could mention, among them the case of Orlando Zapata Tamayo, a criminal with a broad record of aggressive actions. He was convinced to stage a hunger strike - involving manipulation and money- that claimed his life.
Now they are presenting him to the international opinion as a martyr and have ridiculously ennobled him, as also it happens with Yoani Sánchez, whose poisonous speeches have been paid with awards that even great writers haven’t won.
How wrong the pawns of the U.S. empire are!
With these built-up leaders they will not be able to oust the historic processes that the true Cubans recognize.
Nothing will replace the deep feelings of patriotism rooted among our children; ideas inherited from José Martí, Antonio Maceo, Julio Antonio Mella or Fidel Castro, even when Obama’s Government has authorized 20 million dollars this year.
The lackeys of the U.S. Empire once again fail in their attempt to repeat a lie several times so that it acquires the legitimacy of truth.
