As the hours go by, prior to April 16th, Havana city is living more intensely working hours and efforts, in order to secure the clarity, organization and significance of popular military parade for the 50th anniversary of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution and the victory in Playa Giron, and opening the same day, the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Thus not only in the Jose Marti Revolution Square is there a festive mood, but also in Havana’s Convention Center, which until Tuesday, 19 will host a thousand delegates to the Cuban Party’s Congress.
Quite a few streets and avenues have been renovated and repaved, and even many work and student groups will greet such important events by improving the appearance of the city with Cuban and multi-colored flags, posters, billboards and banners with patriotic slogans on the most important roads of the city
Without pomp, ceremony and waste, as the country's leadership has asked of each institution and countryman to take on the new challenges, and as these days pass, especially in an area like Havana, which for months has been getting ready for what will undoubtedly be an historic April 16, the Day of the Militia, as it is known.
Amid the rehearsals of the forces and weaponry, that will star in the military parade, there has been no lack in the blocks and production facilities and services, and education, of the call to be present on Saturday in the Square Revolution, where tens of thousands of young people on behalf of future generations, will star in the march.
There are reasons enough to go there with enthusiasm, patriotic fervor and discipline, and reaffirm the irreversibility of the Cuban socialist project, the infinite trust in their historic leaders in Fidel and Raul, the Communist Party, and the commitment to work hard and efficiently to realize the resolutions of the Congress and its economic and social guidelines.
But this popular mobilization, which on Saturday 16 will take place throughout Cuba, will not lack the condemnation of the recent U.S. court decision declaring the notorious murderer Luis Posada Carriles innocent, while five Cuban anti-terrorists are unjustly locked up in prisons in that nation.
So on that day, in the main squares, parks and avenues of the cities and towns, millions of Cubans will march to demand the release of these compatriots, in memory of their heroes and martyrs, so that the capitalist past will not return to Cuba and so their children have a secure future, the guarantee of a decent life and a secure future.
The aggression of the U.S. and its strategic allies against Libya and other nations, the dirty media war against the island and the subversive plans of the CIA and the Cuban mafia in the field of telecommunications, as shown by the television serial Cuba’s reasons, and the recent obsessive statements by the representatives of the empire to destroy the Revolution, reaffirm that there can be no rest nor neglect of the defense.
Therefore Havana and all the Island is living these intense days in April, many laden with emotion when fighters in the Bay of Pigs victory talk to the new generations.
The Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces announced a few days ago that in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, on Saturday 16, at 4.10 pm, a 21-gun salute will be fired from the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabana in Havana. This is another beautiful and simple tribute to this special occasion, when there is every reason from Cape San Antonio to the Punta de Maisi for an historic march.
