Major General Onelio Bermúdez Aguilera, head of the Eastern Army, led the military parade for the 50th anniversary of the Proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution and the Bay of Pigs invasion victory, which began with a martial march of the troops of the Cuban army, composed of several military blocs.
Also attending the march was the Block from the Camilo Cienfuegos military schools. They are high -level educational institutions which are fueled by the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR). Their students graduate from high school in arts and sciences. These institutions were founded on September 23rd, in 1966. Now, there are 20 schools throughout the country and their graduates take important responsibilities in the FAR.
Present in the popular parade were also the General Antonio Maceo cadet schools from the FAR, where future officers for the armed forces are trained in control and technical specialties, with a long tradition of organization and discipline. These kinds of schools train officers in the specialties of infantry, tanks, political-military issues, artillery, military intelligence, engineering, logistics, and protection against weapons of mass destruction, among others.
Love for their weapons, discipline, and training for defense of the homeland are characteristics that identify the young people from the Revolutionary Armed Forces, who have marched in different battalions and squads during the historic Military Review.
