The inaugural session of the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba began today at 4:00 pm in the Conference Center, attended by a thousand delegates elected to the important meeting of the Cuban Communists.

The Congress will discuss the Draft Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, a document massively discussed between the months of December 2010 and February of this year in the workplaces, schools and communities. With the results of this broad consultation, the document will be submitted for consideration by the delegates.


During the momentous event the Party's leading bodies for the coming work period will be elected.


The Congress opening ceremony broadcast live by Radio Rebelde, Radio Havana Cuba, Cubavision, the Educational Channel, and Cubavision International.

Cubavision will broadcast it on Sunday morning in the Round Table schedule.
