The Secretary General of the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC) , delivered the main speech of the International Workers Day parade in Revolution Square, in which he expressed, that this march is dedicated to the heroes and heroines who made our revolution, the people parade for what unites us and what we stand for.
A multicolored sea of people in the Revolution Square, once again reaffirming that the Cubans are behind the proletarian revolution, and unanimously supported the Economic and Social guidelines that emanated from the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.
The May Day celebration was presided over by the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, member of the Politburo, and CTC’ secretary general, Salvador Valdes Mesa, and Juan Barahona Mejias, the president of Honduras’ Popular Resistance.
This historic May Day was also attended by assailants of the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons, the relatives of the Five Heroes, Heroines and Heroes of Work of the Republic of Cuba as well as veterans and founders of the CTC, CDR and outstanding workers, and diplomatic corps accredited to Havana.
Cuba’s popular parade paid tribute to popular union leaders Jesus Menéndez, Lázaro Peña and José María Pérez.
