The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the sanctions imposed by the United States on Venezuelan oil company PDVSA for its ties with Iran.

altThe document reaffirms the solidarity of the Cuban government and people with Venezuela’s president, Hugo Chávez, and its people, while supporting the decision of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic on this issue.

The text also denounces that the United States violates international law when applying unilateral measures outside its territory, and expresses concern over U.S. efforts to destabilize the region, now undergoing major changes aimed at ensuring its unity and independence.

The note stresses that Cuba is ready to denounce such act of hostility in any international forum or event, and also supports the adoption of measures to counter this brutal aggression against Venezuela and Latin America.
