The Cuban Radio System is joining the Union of Journalists of Cuba in Isla de la Juventud municipality on the occasion of the seventh edition of the Common Front of Ideas, to be held in Nueva Gerona on June 25, 2011.

The Portal of the Cuban Radio and the radio stations of the country will participate in an International Interactive Forum dedicated to the Cuban Five imprisoned in the United Sates now for 12 years, with collaboration of works aimed at developing that meeting among professionals in response to the call from the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in which the Cuban press was entrusted with the outstanding journalistic performance without triumphalism, stridency and formalism.
Under the slogan "You are fighting when you tell the truth," the event will enable Cuban communicators to have a meeting for the analysis and reflection on the national culture and the recovery of civic values in the Cuban society.

During the Common Front of ideas, with venue in Isla de la Juventud municipality, works and actions encouraging debate on people’s opinions will be carried out, which will raise journalist’s professionalism and knowledge.

This front will be an opportune framework to contribute to collective thinking that leads to assume that challenge on the part of Cuban journalists in common actions together with artists and writers, social communicators, economists and members of the José Martí Cultural Society.

The topics of the meeting will be the following:

- The Cuban press: Clarification as well as practical, permanent and critical spreading of the development of the updating of Cuba’s economic model. How the messages could be spread in a more effective way for different kind of audiences.

- The Cyber War and the battle of national journalism in that belligerent context. Promotion of the need of an environment of peace on the Internet and the use of computer technologies and communications in an appropriate manner in order to contribute to bringing up better citizens and a better country.

The work session will be carried out though panels, discussions and special presentations allowing an interchange of experiences in order to find alternatives on the importance of communication processes, both in the media and in institutions, and in favor of the progress of the Cuban revolution.
