US director Michael Moore will present the latest Cuban movie “Habanastation” by director Ian Padron, which was premiered in Havana on July 16, Cuban television reported.
Padron’s opera prima tells the story of the two Cuban schoolchildren– one of whom comes from a family with a good income- who finally become friends. Their friendship is established around the games console of one, which the other had never before seen.
The plot of the film shows the current Cuban reality marked by contrasts related to incomes between some Cuban families.
Padron asked Michael Moore to assist in the presentation of the film in 10 days in Michigan, the Cuban filmmaker said after the opening of the film in the Charles Chaplin movie theater to a full house, and an event in Marianao neighborhood, where shooting of the film took place, on the occasion of Children's Day.
The film features Andy Fornaris and Ernesto Escalona in the main roles, and the “La Colmenita” children’s theater company, which has been declared a Goodwill Ambassador by UNICEF. It will be shown at a festival in Traverse city, Minnesota, on July from 26 to 31.
