The Cuban Health Society denounces violence in all its forms exerted on the Cuban Five, unjustly imprisoned for 13 years in the United States.
Therefore, this organization demands a detailed and responsive analysis focused on rights, but also evaluating the health impact, making an appropriate and appropriate diagnosis denouncing the physical and mental state to which they are subjected to, its consequences and potential consequences, effect on the family, and thus avoid impunity.
The remaining 59 National Health Associations of Cuba, which make up the National Council of Scientific Societies, add to this statement, which calls for the support of Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, in order to achieve solidarity scientific, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and international, making known to the institutions of other countries the injustices have been submitted and allow them to recover the project of life of those Cubans who have suffered continuing violence for years.
In its World Report on Violence and Health, the World Health Organization states: "The world will have to learn quickly how to combat the new threat of global terrorism in all its forms and at the same time, show a high degree of determination to prevent and reduce the impact of collective violence which is causing an overwhelming proportion of deaths, illnesses, injuries and destruction. "
In this context, the Cuban Society of Public Health has proposed the approach as a health problem, that of terrorism as a manifestation of violence and human rights issues, social and public health, which profoundly affects the life project of Cubans and has affected the development of our society.
Cuba has not been unaffected by this scourge, because from 1959 there has been a systematic policy in place of aggression, including terrorism planned, organized, financed and directed from the United States.
There is a countless body of documented evidence on the matter, which is compounded by the economic blockade that has accompanied it, all of which has cost valuable lives and resources to the country.
As noted by Ricardo Alarcón, president of the Cuban Parliament: Only strong international solidarity can bring about the release of those compatriots. The international community has a great responsibility in this matter and must urgently support the release of the Five and tear down the wall of silence that exists around this injustice.”
