Sensible and fair human beings – who are luckily most of it - do not cease to condemn all acts of barbarism. It seems contradictory that in a world with so many scientific and technical progress and development of the arts, there is another world where barbarism prevails. Even more unbelievable is that this world is led by the most powerful countries in the world.

These few countries conferred on themselves the right to interfere in the internal affairs of any country, and to control the making of major decisions at the United Nations while ignoring the will of the majority of humanity.

If it weren’t for how real and bloody it is, it may seem that we are watching an old western with the unequal fights between the “good guys" and "bad guys." The bloody and uneven battles between Indians and Palefaces have moved to new scenarios such as the Arab world. Powerful, huge and well articulated disinformation machinery, that celebrates the "killing" of those it brands as enemies, handles a large part of the world public opinion. Real wars are turned into films and presented on TV as pure entertainment, ignoring - or pretending to ignore - that the shrapnel they see on TV left thousands of innocent victims in real life, many of them elderly people, women and children. Executions are announced well in advance in the media and executed using intelligently designed methods where science and technology is put at the service of suffering and death. These acts become a spectacle to "enjoy" rather than a matter of justice, an orgy of revenge legitimated by the law. It hurts to think about it and realize that this is something we live with everyday.

It is in this kind of world where we have lived for a long time. This same reality led 35 years ago to one of the most brutal crimes in human history. In Cuba, October 6 was proclaimed the "Day of the Victims of State Terrorism ". Thirty-five years ago, on October 6, 1976, in a criminal action that words can’t describe its ignominy and malice, murder and impunity came together to kill innocent people.

The authors of the Crime of Barbados in 1976 are still on the loose protected by the greatest power of all times, which self-proclaims as a defender of freedom and justice.

If justice were to be done, the authors, mentors and sponsors of the crime would be held responsible for it. It will put a lot of people in the northern country – many of them are still alive-, in a difficult situation. Compromising pacts made to violate the sovereignty of other countries prevent the highest authorities to make a just decision, even if they are not related to the crime. There are hidden forces capable of ending the lives of those who dare to straight things up in an act of courage.

Those same dark forces that were involved in the bombing of the Cuban airliner in 1976 and in the 1997 bombings in Havana that took the life of a young Italian tourist. These same forces had previously worked in covert operations in other countries to overthrow legally elected governments and assassinate. These same forces keep five Cuban men who fought anti-terrorism unjustly held in U.S. penitentiaries.

This has been the reality of life for decades. Thirty-five years ago, it ended the dreams of more of 70 people, mostly young, filling their homes with mourning and leaving their Homeland crying for justice that has never been done.

Every October 6 Cuba commemorates the "Day of Victims of State Terrorism" in tribute to the victims of the criminal sabotage of the Cubana de Aviación plane in Barbados and all the other acts perpetrated by the CIA and its agents from the U.S. This day is also to call for the release of the five Cubans held in U.S. penitentiaries. Cuba and the people of goodwill around the world tirelessly continue to demand justice long overdue.
