Veronica stressed on the need of an integral formation foractors and actresses
"The art of acting in the audiovisual programs" was the issue that led to another theoretical meeting at the 33rd Caracol Workshop sponsored by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and held at the Ruben Martinez Villena hall of that institution.
Rudy Mora, Fernando Hechevarria and Veronica Lynn were the members of the prestigious panel that discussed issues related to the role of actors and directors in radio and television audiovisual programs.
The lecturers identified the problems currently affecting art schools in Cuba, and proposed solutions to improve acting and directing in the country.
Renowned media figures took part in a debate on vocational training, ethics and the commitment of actors with their works. Some of them were: television journalist and announcer Rosalia Arnaez; program directors Alejandro Gil and Magda Gonzalez; PhD in aesthetics and investigator Norma Mederos, among others.
"There is an ongoing crisis of ethics among actors. The greatest desire of young actors is to appear in a soap opera and become famous; they are not interested in being considered as a new generation. They don’t understand that acting is more than reading a script to play it,” said Rudy Mora, producer and director of the Cuban television.
Actress Veronica Lynn said that the guild is being affected also by the absence of references or paradigms, and mentioned the example of the paradigms of acting set by Enrique Santiesteban, Miguel Navarro, Gina Cabrera, who were her major source of inspiration and knowledge.
Having a degree in performing arts is not the end but the beginning of a career in which study becomes an essential part, the renowned actress said.
Fernando Hechevarria, another great Cuban actor, stated that the respect for all the crew who are part of the production is essential in order to obtain a good communicative product, so it is important to teach this in the academies.
”Although radio and television differ in many aspects, actors and actresses in both media present similar problems,” said winning writer and producer of radio programs Georgina Herrera to the Portal of the Cuban Radio.
The workshop was a space to held reviews and comments, identified problems and proposed solutions. The Caracol Workshop ended on Saturday with the ceremony award held at the ALBA House in Havana.
