Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, took the stand at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly (UN), to give an address on the report: "Need of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United Sates against Cuba.”
This document is put up for debate and then vote to approve it by the members of the international organization. Despite the false image of flexibility the United States tries to show to the world, the US blockade against Cuba remains unchanged. The persecution of Cuban transactions around the world becomes stronger. The island can not import goods from the United States or export them to it.
The Cuban Foreign Minister said that Cuba remains the only destination banned to US citizens. In this regard, he reminded that dozens of people have been prevented from traveling to the island. The minister reminded that the United States has repeatedly said that this is a bilateral issue, but facts prove otherwise.
After 50 years, the hostile policy of the US government against Cuba has not changed. They expect the Cuban government to change its policy, but that will not happen. The Cuban government represents the people’s power and it will continue to be the same, said Bruno Rodriguez.
We will keep defending the justice, we will not give up our social, health and education policies will continue to be universal and free, we will keep protecting maternity and disability, the human beings will remain the first and most important thing, the human rights will always be guaranteed, said Rodriguez. The minister concluded his address asking the Assembly, on behalf of all Cubans, to vote in favor of the report: "Need of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United Sates against Cuba.”
