The Draft Resolution “Need of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba,” was approved this Tuesday with 186 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions during a voting in the 66th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The United States, the main promoter and enforcer of this policy, and Israel voted against the resolution while Marshall Islands, Palau and Micronesia abstained.
Once again and for the twentieth time, most of the UN nations voted no for the blockade imposed to Cuba by successive U.S governments in the last 50 years. During this time the blockade has increased the US hostility towards the isle. The policy has also had an impact of third countries due to the extraterritorial effect of its measures and the constant imposition of domineering policies.
