Artists, journalists and radio announcers employed by Cuba's broadcaster Radio Cadena Agramonte signed a letter addressed to US Presdient Barack Obama, demanding the immediate release of the Cuban Five, who continue to endure unjust prison terms in the United States.
The missive stresses the altruism shown by Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González, who have been incarcerated for 13 years for defending the United States and Cuba from terrorist actions.
During the recently-concluded 7th International Colloquium for the Freedom of the Five and Against Terrorism held in Holguin, radio announcers from Camaguey addressed the US President to inform him that the Five have endured the worst of conditions, having been isolated in “The Hole” several times.
“What we ask from you, Mr. President, is a sense of humanity and respect towards the lives of these individuals, who have lost the best years of their lives behind bars. We ask that you show a sense of justice and decorum," the letter to the Barack Obama states.
It adds: “Today, the world is torn between war and peace. We Cubans place our confidence in respect and love among peoples, and condemn those who murder and destroy for the sake of profits."
