The ambassador of the Republic of China Liu Yu Qin said that her country will continue the path of socialism as a strategy. They will keep on constructing this social system with their own features despite all difficulties and challenges.

In line with the firm position of China’s Communist Party to intensify the fight against all kinds of wrongdoings, especially corruption; Liu Yu Qin underlined the need to eliminate obstacles and continue the implementation of reforms and opening policies.

The Chinese ambassador told to Radio Havana station: "We are aware that China has a large population and a weak economic base. The Chinese people’s standard of living remains low, the social security system is not yet the fittest and the income revenues and development differ greatly among social sectors. China will continue to be a developing country for a large number of years.”

"China has been able to face great difficulties and challenges. It is prepared to engage actively in international exchanges and collaboration, to go deeper into common interests with other countries and promote mutual development", Liu Yu Qin said.

She also pointed out that amidst international turmoil and the financial crisis facing some developed countries, China continues to deepen the reform and opening while making great efforts to solve development problems. As an example, the diplomat said that China’s GDP grew 9.6 percent during the first half of this year.

In 2010, bilateral trade exceeded US $1,800 million. China remains the second trade partner of Cuba worldwide.  During the first semester of 2011, bilateral trade totaled USD $ 943 million, 3.6 percent less than last year. On the other hand, Cuba exported USD$ 536 million, rising 32.6 percent compared to the same period in 2010.

At the end of her interview, Liu Yu Qin stressed that 2011 has been of great importance for her nation because the 12th five-year plan started its implementation.

In the next five years, China will focus on its socioeconomic development and its scientific development. The main goal will be the speed up of its economic model in order to grow quickly and steadily. A better use of the resources, the protection of the environment and the improvement of the living standards of the Chinese people are also part of the agenda.”

Finally the ambassador noted: “China’s development can not be separated from global development and global prosperity and stability can not be separated from China either.”
