Once again the Cuban people proved to be prepared to defend the Revolution that, for over 50 years, has been threatened by the Yankee Empire. The strategic military training Bastion 2009 is an irrefutable evidence of the invulnerability of our ideas and conquests.

In the National Defense Day, the Cuban people is in the right place to participate in what has turned to be a complement of a preparation facing exceptional situations, as might be a war.

This event allows to raise the combat readiness of our people to defend the country if it is attacked. Every Cuban will always have a way, a place and means to confront the enemy.

The participation in this important task is massive, dignifying our defensive conception: the War of All the People doctrine.

It couldn’t be otherwise, for rebel, internacionalist and guerrilla blood flows through the veins of those who live in this Island.

In different moments of our history we have been threatened by hostile forces numerically superior in soldiers and armament; but we always win because our conviction is: Homeland or Death!

With the participation in the National Defense Day, each Cuban demonstrates the ever lasting validity of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s thought which reads: "In any circumstance we will be always prepared for the War of All the People and for safegurading every nook and cranny of our country, as far as there is a revolutionary and a weapon to do it. Every man, every revolutionary must say I am the army, I am the nation, I am the Revolution."
